Here is some information for you: When you arrive in Canada as an immigrant you need to get a Social Security Number (SIN), Health Care card etc. You may get all this information from the Immigration Reception & Information Services officer at the international airport, or you can visit any nearest immigration office in the town.
Social Security Number (S.I.N.):
Apply at Human Resources Development Canada. You will need your passport and landed immigration certificate to get S.I.N. Here is the location in Edmonton where you can apply for a S.I.N. number.

Driving In Canada:
To drive a vehicle in Canada one needs a valid Canadian driver’s license. People coming from overseas may carry an international driving license which is only valid up to 30 days. Driving in North America (U.S. and Canada) is on the right hand side of the road, unlike in India.
Continuing Education:
If you want to continue further studies, most of the Universities do their own evaluation of your qualification before enrolling you in a program. This may cost any where from $50 to $150. You may want to contact the University directly in order to get more information regarding the continuation of studies. Ministry of Education in each province may also provide educational assessment for their province.
There are few agencies that can help you in write your resume, prepare for interviews, and find a job. There are number of private and government employment agencies that can assist you in locating a job at no cost to you.
